This world is a treasure chest of botanical gardens--each one a jewel in its own right. Each is an example of floral perfection.

Public botanical gardens can be compared to brick and mortar houses. Like a home, a botanical flower garden typically contains many rooms. Plants are the soft furnishings and each garden room is decorated around a different floral theme.

This is where one goes to get decorating ideas for outdoor rooms.

The outdoor exhibits of the public garden near you is where you will find stunning examples of all the plants that flourish in your gardening zone. You'll see how big they are and what they look like when they are all grown up. You'll see what exposure suits them best and what other plants and flower colors compliment them.

Whether you are planning an ebullient and rambling cottage garden or a formal rose garden, you will come away with a nose full of nature's sweet perfume and your head swimming with new and exciting ideas for your home landscape.

Tiny and I enjoy visiting the botanic garden of every city we travel to. I feel strongly that we, the gardening public, must support these national treasures. If we don't, the day may come when they no longer exist.

One of my personal passions is raising public awareness of botanical gardens and encouraging more people to visit them.

You can join me in this by sharing your favorite botanical garden, arboretum, state or national park or any public garden you love with the world.

It's easy and free.

Just upload a picture--or several, if you like--(400 megapixels max) and tell us what you enjoy about your favorite garden. Write as little or as much as you like.

It's as simple as that.

If you work at a botanical flower garden, I invite you to submit photos and information about it as well. Include the web address of the garden and I'll turn it into a live link when the page goes live.
