Fertilize Citrus Tree - Frequency

How often and what time of the year do you fertilize and how strong?

Plant Guide

Feed citrus trees in the spring and again in midsummer.

Follow the directions on the fertilizer package as a guide to how much fertilizer to apply. A plant food formulated specifically for citrus would be best but you can alternate with other types of fertilizers as well.

Different types of citrus trees require different minor elements but the vast majority of varieties are not picky eaters. It's better to feed them whatever you have on hand than to skip a feeding.

The amount to give will depend on the size of the tree, its vigor and the type of food being applied.

Small or slow-growing trees should be fed less than large or fast-growing citrus plants.
