Hilton Garden Inn Savannah GA

My ndependent review of the Hilton Garden Inn Savannah GA, a nice-for-the-price hotel in Savannah Georgia. Savannah historic district hotels. Downtown Savannah hotels. Savannah hotel reviews.

This hotel is located at 321 West Bay Street in Savannah Georgia in the heart of Savannah's historic district.

Tiny and I spent Halloween night here on our way back from a fall foliage tour of Virginia and Pennsylvania.

This Savannah, GA hotel goes all out for All Hallow's Eve. The front desk personnel were in costume. A man in drag checked us in and it took me a moment to figure out that he was really a he and not a she!

I like Hilton hotels in general and Hilton Garden Inns in particular. They are less expensive and just as nice as a standard Hilton.

The main difference, in my humble opinion, is the lack of a proper restaurant. The restaurants in Hilton hotels are always wonderful. But the Garden Inns make up for this by laying out a top notch breakfast buffet with fresh juice in carafes and omelet chefs in tall, white hats.

They are invariably clean, comfortable and modern.

When I am not reviewing a new hotel, the Hilton Garden Inn is my default chain hotel.

I said all of that so that this next part won't sound so bad.

This downtown Savannah hotel was unremarkable among Hilton Garden Inns. It was just as lovely as all the others we have visited over the years.

This is what I like about the chain. It is consistent.

Market Square in Savannah, GA.

Market Square

The reason we chose this Savannah Georgia hotel is because of its location.

Savanah's historic district is not an area you want to drive around. Parking is limited and traffic considerable. We wanted to be able to tour the area on foot.

We parked in the hotel's underground garage (there is a $15 per day parking fee) and there the car stayed until we checked out.

River Street in Savannah GA.

River Street Savannah

Both Market Square and scenic River Street are within easy walking distance.

Savannah weather is still pretty in October and we enjoyed strolling the cobbled streets of the historic area. It didn't begin to get chilly until night fell.

Hilton Garden Inn Savannah Rates

We paid $156 for a king nonsmoking room. Not too bad for a nice hotel smack dab in the middle of a major tourist area on a holiday.
