Medallion rose bush features huge (7 inch) pink and peach roses are as impressive in the garden as they are in the vase. The pale pink and peach long stem roses are gently fragrant too.

Medallion was hybridized by Warriner and introduced in 1973.

The main thing this Hybrid Tea needs in the garden is space. At 6 feet tall and nearly as wide it is a space hog. This is not the rose to plant in a small garden.

I have good and bad new for you about this rose. I'll start with the bad news:

The light green leaves of Medallion are black spot prone in humid areas. If you live in Arizona or California, it may grow nearly disease free for you. Otherwise, it will almost certainly need to be sprayed. Or better yet, feed it with a systemic rose care product.

Bayer All-in-One Rose and Flower Care Concentrate feeds and protects from insects and the major rose diseases all at the same time.

The good news: Medallion rose is vigorous and produces immense quantities of huge flowers. She will provide you with bouquets of pink and apricot roses. As the long stemmed blooms age in the vase, the petal edges turn bright pink.

For an added bonus, the stems carry very few thorns.

Despite its susceptibility to black spot this is a favorite pink blend Hybrid Tea rose among rose gardeners. It is striking in the landscape, elegant in bouquets, and subtly fragrant.

If you like large pink and peach roses, give this 1973 All-America Rose Selection a try.

Recommended for USDA zones 5a (with winter protection) to 9b.
