Orchid Flower Stems

I have this Orchid. It has finished blooming.

My question is: It stands about 3' tall and the stems about half way down are drying up but there are new leaves and buds coming back.

I cut off the dying and shrinking stems. Will this hurt my orchid?

Plant Guides Response

Removing the dead or brown portion of an orchid's flower spike will not hurt the plant and, as long as you do not remove the live green portion of the spike, your orchid should continue to form new flower buds.
