The perfect blooms are a lavender blend. The petals are mauve at the center. The outer petals are edged in dark red. They are also more recurved than the petals in the center.

The effect is voluptuous like a full-lipped woman wearing red lipstick.

These sensuous blooms are sometimes fragrant but the scent is elusive.

The flowers are not elusive. They begin appearing in early spring and repeat right up to the first frost.

Paradise was hybridized by Weeks and introduced in 1978. The plant grows to 4 feet in height and is well foliated. The medium green leaves are resistant to black spot and mildew.

Recommended for USDA zones 6a-9b. It may survive in zone 5b with winter protection.
