The weather on Maui is warm year round because of the islands proximity to the equator. The temperature of the ocean around Maui island varies by fewer than 10 degrees (75-83 degrees F.) from winter to summer.

The warmth of the water moderates the atmosphere over the island during the winter. The trade winds (so named by merchant seamen who made use of them to sail to distant lands) cool the island during the heat of summer.

Maui, Hawaii weather changes with the altitude. It is always warmest near the coast. The further upcountry you go, the cooler it will be. Lahaina, Maui weather will always be hotter and drier than the weather in Hana, Maui.

It is always cold at the summit of Haleakala because of the altitude.
